Why is Australia on a one dollar note?

This proved a major cost saving for the Government. The one dollar note is a dark brown coloured note with Aboriginal bark paintings on one side and Queen Elizabeth II and the Australian Coat of Arms on the other. It reads “COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA” on earlier issues (1966-1974). In 1974 this was replaced by “AUSTRALIA” on both sides of the note.

What is on Australia's New $1 banknote?

The front of Australia's new $1 banknote bore a portrait of the Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, and a representation of the Australian Coat of Arms. The back of the banknote was distinctive with an interpretation of an Aboriginal bark painting by David Daymirringu and of other paintings and carvings.

Why are Australia banknotes so valuable?

The rich cultural and historical heritage of Australia is beautifully reflected in its banknotes, making them unique and valuable collectibles. One reason why Australia banknotes are attractive to investors is their rarity. Many Australia banknotes were printed in limited quantities, making them hard to come by and increasing their value.
